2017 new versions and the GPS based FDLog Hardware Clock
FDLog 154c is up, it fixes some issues with the time synchronization, but otherwise is the same as 154b (which we used for FD 2016). It is important for the time master to use this version, or a workaround is to set ".timeok 1" which will drive the time offset to zero and make the systemwide time the same as the time master's clock. A new GPS based Field Day clock, in use since 2014, is in the process of being documented, a new page will be created momentarily. |
FDLog 153c and 153d beta versions released
Hope everyone had a great ARRL Field Day last weekend. The higher bands didn't work for us, but 40 and 20 were good. Our Field Day group used 153c on field day a few days ago, and it performed well. There are a lot of changes since the previous release. The biggest is a new parser that allows field entry in arbitrary order, plus there is a new graphical startup so you don't have to answer questions in the diagnostic window. See the release notes for details. There were a couple of minor bugs relating to spaces in comment fields found in 153c-beta that are fixed in 153d-beta. It has not been tested beyond verifying those bugs. I would recommend downloading both versions and using the 'd' version. If a problem occurs backup to the 'c' version to see if it is related to the last changes. |
FDLog 152j
FDLog version 152j has been uploaded to the Downloads page. Improvements are minor: added 900 to .band command added .timeok to .h help command added ? help note to startup compacted startup lines on GUI adjusted comments added signature to console QSTs -logger display UDP and TCP ports (only showed UDP before and didn't note protocol) Have a great Field Day! -- Alan, w6akb |
2016
Google Code has passed into history, and things there are now archival only. We will move on to a new hosting site at some point, but in the meantime we will use downloads here to support the program. I hope to post a new version before this Field Day, though it is getting close and you may not want to update. I'll have to review the changes, I haven't looked at the code since last year. Each year I make a few changes, and generally try to post the new version after we have used it on Field Day. I don't recall any big changes aside from better time synchronization and the incorporation of a serial GPS Clock that I built. -- Alan, W6AKB |
New ARRL Sections File
We have a new ARRL sections file courtesy of a new user, Robert K5LYT. You can download it from the Downloads page and copy it into your FDLog working directory. Thanks Robert! |
FDLog 152i 5/2014
FDLog development spurts ahead each year prior to Field Day in June, but we don't always update the website. Here's a new beta with lots of new features including remote TCP server capability to facilitate testing and training from home. It can also read time from a new USB GPS Clock that we're building and synchronize time better. Lots of small bugfixes as well (and perhaps a few new bugs). We've been testing using the remote TCP feature and it seems to be working fairly well, but I still consider it Beta code. I have not had time to update the Google site, but will upload a package here momentarily. |
FDLog version 149
We have been using version 149 for a couple of years so that is now regarded as the current "stable" version, and I have uploaded easily downloadable zip files on the downloads page here as well as on the Google Code site. -- Alan, W6AKB |
Python 2.7
Time to prepare for Field Day 2013! FDLog has been tested with Python 2.7.3 and thus far no issues have been noted. A new version that uses an sqlite database internally instead of a text file to store the QSO log is also being developed. Not certain if there will be a full release of the sqlite version before FD this year, but folks who want to beta test should drop me an email. |
New Merged FD/VHF Version
Version 1-149 has been posted to the Google Code project source code. This version has both Field Day and VHF Contest capability merged into one source code. |
New Code Repository
To support FDLog development we are moving the code to a Google Code Project. This will facilitate developing and sharing new versions and variants. Thanks for your support! -- Alan, WB6ZQZ |
